HOW DO I MEASURE PROPERLY FOR MY HOOD?

How to measure, the specific measurements we need.

The following information is pertinent to finding your perfect hood:

The width of your cooktop.

Hoods need to be as wide as your cooktop. You do have the option to go wider which is typically by 6"

Your floor to ceiling height.

We determine hood height by using the following formula:

  • First determine how far above your countertop you'd like the hood to be. The recommended range is 30" to 36" which is going to be based on your height and the height of any other cooks in the household.
  • If you are on the tall side, 30" above will be too low. If you are on the short side, 36" above is too high. If you have mixed heights in the household, 33" can be just right.

  • Once you determine your distance from the countertop (let's presume 33"), do the following:

    • Take your overall floor to ceiling height

    • Subtract 36" for countertop height

    • Subtract your desired distance above your countertops

      • Example: 9 foot ceilings. 108" - 36" - 33" = 39"

      • You hood height will be 39"

The distance between any wall cabinets present on the same wall as your hood

Some of our hoods with larger apron moldings will have a larger edge to edge measurement than advertised. These hoods will need additional spacing to fit on your wall. The best way to determine this information is to contact us.
